The Training Collaborative works with QB ethnic and multicultural ministries to deliver a training program in Christian Ministry and Theology on Saturday each fortnight during the school term at Logan Baptist Church in Brisbane. Most students study at Diploma level, but the program is also able to be undertaken at the lower Cert IV level.
The program is targeted at people who are looking to exercise a leadership role within an ethnic or multicultural church. Successful completion of this program will allow people to apply for registration in Queensland Baptist churches. The modules in this course cover Biblical, theological and practical content that will prepare people for church ministry.
The design of this program is mindful of people who have migrated to Australia or are here on humanitarian visas. For most students who are in this program, English is not their first language. Saying this, all subjects are taught in English and written and oral assessment tasks are also in English, so sound English skills are required.
The duration of the Diploma program is 2 to 3 years part time. VET FEE-HELP (tuition financial assistance) is available for students studying at Diploma or Advanced Diploma level. Students must meet the eligibility requirements (including passing a language, literacy and numeracy test) to receive Fee Help and will incur a debt with the Australian government. They must either be Australian citizens or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa. Please refer to the more detailed information on FEE HELP here
